The parentage test is based on a comparison between the genetic markers of the parents and the offspring. The laboratory uses 19 markers spread across the whole cattle genome. Internationally, 12 markers are currently used, which were adopted by ISAG (International Society of Animal Genetics) at a meeting in 2008.

The reason for the 7 extra markers used by GenoSkan A/S is our wish to secure the optimal result.

A certificate will be issued telling whether or not the parentage qualifies and stating the DNA type of the offspring.
